Cancer is caused by a stem cell deviding out of control. This is caused by one of two factors, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic is part of innate body functions such as mutation and seemly are just a case of bad luck while extrinsic factors are cases of smoking and uv radation.
Previous studies showed that two thirds of cancer were caused by these intrinsic factors. However, new studies done by Stony Brook Cancer Centre in New York show that possibly 90% of cancer is caused by extrinsic factors. A majority of these factors are still unidentified and may not be avoidable.
